Cool Down with Wendy’s New Frosty Swirls™ and Frosty Fusions™ 

As the weather heats up, Wendy’s is here to keep things cool with a fresh new take the beloved Frosty! Frosty Swirls, launching April 15, combine the classic Vanilla or Chocolate Frosty base with one of three new indulgent sauces. It doesn’t stop there, you can take the frozen treat up a notch with new Frosty Fusions launching May 12. Frosty Fusions combine a classic Vanilla or Chocolate Frosty base with a sauce and sweet treat mix-ins such as Pop-Tarts^® Crunch Poppers pieces or OREO^® cookie pieces. 

What are the flavors of Frosty Swirls and Frosty Fusions?  

Wendy's is always exploring ways to innovate our Frosty lineup to bring our fans the most crave-worthy flavors. Frosty Swirls, start with our Vanilla or Chocolate Frosty base, swirled with a sweet, juicy Strawberry sauce, a buttery, rich Caramel sauce or decadent, chocolatey Brownie Batter sauce.  

With Frosty Fusions, Wendy’s is upping the flavor experience by combining a sauce and mix-in. The Pop-Tarts^® Strawberry Frosty Fusion™ is inspired by the snacking staple. It combines a sweet strawberry sauce with chunks of strawberry-flavored Pop-Tarts Crunchy Poppers pieces. The OREO^® Brownie Frosty Fusion™ brings in a chocolatey flavor profile, featuring the classic Frosty swirled with the Brownie Batter sauce mixed with crunchy OREO cookie pieces. And finally, the Caramel Crunch Frosty Fusion™ blends the classic Frosty with crunchy toffee pieces and a sweet caramel sauce. Treat yourself to these delicious new flavors at a Wendy’s near you! 

Is the Frosty a Dessert, a Drink or a Dip? 

The Frosty can be all three! With a consistency that falls somewhere between a milkshake and soft-serve ice cream, the Frosty was created to be eaten with a spoon. But if you prefer to let your Frosty melt a bit to enjoy it with a straw, we won’t stop you. There are also those who like to dip their Wendy’s Hot & Crispy Fries in a Frosty for the ultimate sweet and salty experience. When it comes to how to enjoy this iconic dessert, we say, “you do you.”  

History of the Frosty 

The Frosty dairy dessert has been a Wendy’s menu staple for more than 50 years. The Frosty was one of five original Wendy’s menu items, which are all proudly still on the menu today. This signature treat was co-created in 1969 by Fred Kappus, CEO of Kappus Company, an Ohio-based foodservice equipment distributor, and Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas. Dave was looking for a frozen dairy treat to put on his new hamburger restaurant menu. He thought since Fred sold ice cream machines, he might have an idea for a recipe. That hunch was correct and the Frosty was born. Over half a century later, Kappus still supplies Frosty machines to Wendy’s restaurants around the world.
